It seems like every other week I’m saying I’m done with amiibos. But every time I leave they just pull me back in! At least I keep it to franchises that mean something to me and/or have good functionality. Uniqueness is a huge plus too. Hmm.. I guess I have to break down amiibos too, huh? UGH!

Look & Functionality

  • Connector.

    Samus Aran

“In the vast universe, the history of humanity is but a flash of light from a lone star. The life of a single person should be lost in space and time. But among the stars, there is one light that burns brighter than all others. The light of Samus Aran. Her battles extend beyond her life, and etch themselves into history.” – Metroid Prime intro

  • Connector.

    Sculpt

Great stance, with lots of detail in the armor, especially on the back. The more you look at it, the more things you’ll find that stand out.

  • Connector.

    What it does

Unlocks an extra energy tank, as well as Metroid 2 art in the art gallery once the game is completed.

  • Connector.

    Metroid

“Metroids are the titular creatures of the Metroid series. Originating from the planet SR388, they first became known to the universe at large when Space Pirates stole a batch of specimens from a Galactic Federation research vessel and attempted to exploit them as bioweapons.”

    Sculpt

Such an awesome and unique amiibo! Looking like it’s fresh out of a lab, there’s plenty of detail under and inside the body.

  • Connector.

    Squishy!

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

  • Connector.

    What it does

Allows you to reveal the location of the nearest Metroid on your map. Also, after completing the game, unlocks Fusion difficulty mode where you can use Samus’ suit from the Metroid Fusion game.

Thoughts

I heard people complaining about the Samus amiibo when it was first announced. Something about it not being a very exciting pose or something. Plain and boring might have been used? I dunno, I don’t see it!

It’s such a great looking figure. If you’re a fan of the series, you should not be disappointed at all. And the detail in the armor and the cannon is great.

At first glance it may not look too exciting, but the more you look at it, the more details come out. All the different lines and lights in the armor, the vents and various plates on the back. It’s awesome to have sitting on your desk if you love Metroid.

Speaking of Metroid, this guy is sweet! Such a unique amiibo, I love the design of it. The squishy feel of it is what stands out the most and rightfully so because it’s so outside the box for amiibo, it’s great.

Did you get a hold of these amiibo? Hoping to get them in the future? Do you even amiibo, bro?!? Let us know in the comments, on twitter, or in a voicemail!
