Games we’re talking about this week

This week on Future Monkeys Episode 13, we join Los, Skari, and Jen in discussing The Legend of Zelda: TriForce Heroes, Uncharted, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Yoshi’s Woolly World, and Broken Age.

Los hands off the reins of the time machine to Jen, who takes us back to the very early days of the PS2 launch to revisit Dark Cloud. Skari and Los go into the Future for several games, including Catherine, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, and Telltale’s Back to the Future.

The holidays are coming up! Now is the time to think about setting up a community podcast in the great EZ-Mode tradition! The main podcast will be taking the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years off.

Also, please take a moment to answer our poll about a possible new forum! The poll closes on 11/4/15.

Should we make a new forum, assuming it’s mobile accessible?

Yes, I miss having a dedicated home on the interwebs.
No, the G+ Community is good enough.
No, forums are a dead medium, stop living in the past!
Maybe? Either way, I may or may not use it. No promises!

Weekly Update

This week on the Future Monkeys Podcast, we celebrated the long awaited Back to the Future day! October 21, 2015 is that day that Doc Brown and Marty McFly arrive in the future, the Cubs win, and Biff Tannen gains a Donald Trump-esque empire. Some of the cool stuff from the movie didn’t come to fruition, like we discussed, but it’s a fun day to watch a great movie, to reflect on where we’re at, and to get excited for what the future might bring.

BTTF 2 Day

Los prepares for Halloween with a Harry Potter costume for Seb and a Yoda costume for Lucas…Things are not so easy for him and Day, however. There’s not a Jedi robe in sight at the party stores, and they didn’t want to go as the super cheap Mario knock off, ‘The Side Kick Bros’. Along with that, the pressure to get out of town and move back to Florida heightens with the delivery of a letter from their kid’s school stating, basically, that the school has a failing letter grade in being a school. That’s encouraging!

Jen's Olaf Cosplay

At Jen’s work, she’s being forced to take part in a form of torture colloquially known as “Team Building”. This involves lip syncing with her boss to ‘Let it Go’ while being dressed as Olaf from Frozen. Naturally, with the mention of Frozen, there was much yelling back and forth between Los and Skari about the movie. Both of them may have threatened to quit the podcast during the discussion, but they managed to move past it without too many hurt feelings. (Los is so sensitive!) We wait with anticipation to hear about how the lip syncing went next week.

Skari’s week has been busy with unsuccessful attempts at fall cleaning. As she puts it, she felt like she lost a game of Tetris against her closet. Klaitu’s inability to get rid of a single thing isn’t helping. She also had a visit from her brother, Kevin. His travels down the wild and woolly Route 66 took him down her way for an overnight visit, so much fun was had catching up.
